Charlotte Cohen is an arts administrator with many years of experience working in the field of public art. Currently, she is a Fine Arts Officer with the US General Services Administration, managing new commissions and the collection in the New York Region.

Prior to joining GSA in 2005, Charlotte directed the New York City Percent for Art Program for nine years. She has also worked for the Smithsonian Institution Traveling Exhibition Service in Washington, DC and was Program Director at Maryland Art Place, a non-profit contemporary art center in Baltimore.

Charlotte has lectured about public art nationally and internationally. She curated a team of artists and public art experts to travel to different cities in Russia to lecture and set up projects, and she established the Public Art in Public Spaces program at the University of Belgrade in Serbia. Charlotte has served on juries and panels across the United States, and is an adjunct faculty member at New York University’s Masters Program in Visual Arts Administration.

About Reconfiguring Site

It is an exciting era for public art as more sensitivity to the nuance of site is increasingly valued.
The public art residency at SVA offers an engaging and participatory “think tank immersion”. A one of a kind program that offers the participant exposure to the diverse ranges of art being made in the public realm today.
